SKIN NEEDLING GOLD COAST

Is Skin Needling a treatment you have been. Considering? We offer Skin Needling in our Gold Coast and Kingscliff clinic, and it is becoming increasingly popular.  We are about to take a deep dive into all things skin needling and answer all the most asked questions.

What is Skin Needling?

Skin needling, also known as microneedling, is an advanced cosmetic treatment that involves creating tiny punctures in the skin using a device called the  Dermapen 4. This treatment is very popular at Nurse Vicki Aesthetics, treating various skin conditions such as acne scars, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin texture.

So, how does skin needling work?

When the skin is punctured with tiny needles, it triggers a natural healing response in the body. The body responds to the micro-injuries by producing more collagen and elastin, which are two essential proteins responsible for maintaining the skin's elasticity and firmness.

The process of skin needling also promotes the production of growth factors that stimulate the production of new skin cells. Skin needling also promotes the production of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps to keep the skin hydrated and plump. By increasing the production of hyaluronic acid, skin needling can improve the skin's moisture levels, resulting in a more supple and youthful appearance. This helps to improve the skin's texture and reduce the appearance of scars and other blemishes. Additionally, skin needling can help to increase the absorption of topical skincare products, allowing them to penetrate deeper into the skin for better results.

What are the Benefits of Skin Needling?

·      Improve skin texture,

·      Reduces fine lines and wrinkles

·      Reduces Pigmentation

·      Reduces the appearance of large pores

Does Skin Needling Hurt?

Skin needling is a relatively painless procedure. The device we use at NVA is the Dermapen 4 skin needling device. A micro needling device like no other, the Dermapen 4 delivers the ultimate in advanced micro needling and can create an astounding 1,920 puncture channels per second. The Dermapen 4 is also up to 104% faster than other micro needling devices meaning larger areas can be treated faster, with almost no pain or downtime. Due to the speed of the oscillating 16 needle cartridge which glides smoothly over the skin, there is no need to use any topical numbing agents. Topical numbing gel acts as a vasoconstrictor which slows down the natural inflammatory response that is beneficial for new collagen fibres and so is discouraged. THIS ALSO MEANS THE TREATMENT IS COMPLETELY SAFE FOR PREGNANT WOMEN.

What is The Process of our Luxe Skin Needling Treatment?

You will firstly be treated to a full facial cleanse to remove any makeup, skincare products and general daily grime. A hot towel is then gently placed onto your face to open the pores and increase circulation for optimal results from your treatment.

Our Skin needling luxe treatment is performed using a handheld device called the Dermapen 4, this devise has a disposable cartridge that contains multiple tiny needles. The device oscillates at fast speed and varying depths creating small punctures in the skin's surface. The depth and intensity of the punctures can be adjusted to suit the patients’ skin type and the specific condition being treated.

When the needles penetrate the skin's surface, they create micro-wounds that trigger the body's natural healing response. The body recognises these wounds as an injury and sends an army of white blood cells and growth factors to the area to begin the repair process. The growth factors are crucial in stimulating the production of new collagen and elastin fibers, which are the key building blocks of healthy, youthful-looking skin.

Collagen is a protein that is found in the skin, bones, and other connective tissues. It provides structure, strength, and elasticity to the skin. As we age, the production of collagen slows down, resulting in thinning, sagging, and wrinkling of the skin. By stimulating the production of collagen through skin needling, the skin becomes firmer, smoother, and more youthful looking.

In addition to collagen production, skin needling also triggers the production of other growth factors that are essential for skin rejuvenation. These growth factors promote the development of new blood vessels and cells, which help to nourish and repair damaged skin cells. This process results in improved skin texture, tone, and hydration.

Following the skin needling we will place on a Hyla Active face mask and perform a facial massage using ice globes, this is cooling on the face and feels amazing (all of our patients claim this is their favourite part of the treatment).

Lastly, we apply a Vitamin repair cream and of course sunscreen to protect you from those rays, your skin is super delicate post skin needling and it is important to be hyper vigilant with regards to sun protection.

How many skin needling treatments are needed?

It is recommended that patients have skin needling treatment every 6-8 weeks. The number of treatments depends on the concerns you have and the severity of the skin problems. Like any rejuvenation treatment it is important to maintain some upkeep. After your initial treatments it is recommended that you have 1-2 treatments a year as top up treatments.

What is the down time post Skin Needling?

After the procedure, the skin may appear swollen or slightly red, but this should subside within a few hours to a few days. Patients are advised to avoid sun exposure and to apply sunscreen regularly to protect the skin from further damage.

In conclusion, skin needling is an effective cosmetic treatment that works by stimulating the body's natural healing response. By creating micro-injuries in the skin, skin needling can improve skin texture, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and enhance the overall appearance of the skin. If you are considering skin needling, be sure to book in for a complimentary consultation.
